Biography

Dr Khattar is a Urologist who has dedicated himself to the fields of Reconstructive Urology, Female Urology and Neurovesical dysfunction. He is a member of Female and Functional Urology Subspeciality section of the USI. He has been a core member for Indian guidelines committee of the Urological Society of India (USI) for Adult Urinary Incontinence and Urethral Strictures. Dr Khattar  has worked as Professor of Urology at the PGIMER and Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi where he was actively involved in teaching and research. He has more than 45 research publications to his name including seven book chapters and a book (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Nikhil-Khattar/research). He runs The PerineoUrology Clinic at Sarita Vihar New Delhi and works as a Visiting  Consultant, Reconstructive Urology, Female Urology and Neurourology at Holy Family Hospital and National heart Institute New Delhi

Looking beyond oral mucosa: Initial results of everted saphenous vein graft urethroplasty (eSVGU) in long anterior urethral strictures.  Arab J Urol. 2017

Buccal mucosa urethroplasty gives relatively inferior results in tobacco exposed oral mucosa and search for another substitute material is on. Animal research had shown good results with saphenous vein. These two original studies on use of saphenous vein as a substitution material for urethral stricture reconstruction were conceived as thesis for Mch post Graduates. We find Saphenous vein to be a reasonable alternative to buccal mucosa in such circumstances

Female sexual function has been as poorly understood as has been the female voiding issues. This research studied the effect of anterior approach to female urethroplasty on the female sexual function and found that it does not negatively affect the sexual function contrary to the presumption
